Good morning,
The fish are still biting offshore. Most have seen and caught plenty of sailfish the last couple of days. Today looks like it should be a great day out there 3-5′ and fifteen seconds. Hopefully the fish hang around another few weeks with the Pelican Yacht Club Billfish Tournament starting next Wednesday. The beach fishing seems pretty good in between periods of dirty water. There are plenty of nice sized Spanish Mackerel, Kings, Bluefish, and Bonitas to be caught.
Inshore fishing is still surprisingly good. I had the pleasure of taking Hank Smith and Hank Smith Jr. from Texas yesterday and ended up finding good numbers of fish. We ended up with around 15 redfish and a couple nice trout. Below is a picture of a six pounder Hank Sr. released. There were also plenty of small grouper on the flats as well as the other misfits such as ladyfish. The fishing was only good from about 11:00-1:00 during the heat of the day. Remember to fish shallow over muddy bottom during the warmest points of these winter days. Slow your presentations and the fish will still bite. Yesterday the bait of choice: Exude Dart on a 1/8 oz. Mustad worm hook.
Have a great day, get out there the fishing’s good!!!!
