Good morning,
It sounds like Santa brought lots of sailfish to town for those that made it out over the Holiday weekend! Yesterday sounded like it was a banner day. Quite a few boats from Vero to Stuart caught sails in the double digits. Everyone we spoke with saw a pile of fish. There were a handful of dolphins caught in the 10-15 pound class and a couple around 25 pounds. It sounds like the wahoos were around chomping through everyones mono leaders (go figure).
Inshore, has been really good for a while now. There are a pile of small redfish around and some really nice trout. The snook fishing has slowed a bit on the flats although mid-day it can happen. Concentrate on shallow muddy bottom during the warmest hours of the day for best results. T.J. Keifer and I ran out yesterday mid-day and made about 10 casts a piece and caught 7 or 8 redfish and a nice trout. On the eleventh cast rod tips collided shattering a G. Loomis and driving a 4/0 jerk bait hook into my finger (Illustrationn below). Anyway, great fishing but poor angling.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and we look forward to the New Year!
Have a great day!
