Good morning everyone, hope you’ve been enjoying the gorgeous weather we’ve had. It looks like some windy conditions for a few days, followed by calmer conditions for the weekend. Getting offshore may be a bit challenging the next few days, but Mangrove Snapper fishing in the 60′ to 70′ range has been quite good, with fish up to 8 lbs. recently reported, mostly on live bait. Kingfish activity has also been solid in the 70′ to 80′ range, while Dolphin and Sailfish catches have been scattered. Snook season has closed and will open Feb. 1st., so it’s catch and release or a while. The inlets have provided some action with Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish for those looking for some activity, mostly taking spoons. It looks to be rough in the surf for the next few days, but once things settle back down the larger Bluefish that have been around should return, and hopefully some Pompano as well. Inshore fishing seems to be about finding clean water. Areas near Sebastian Inlet seem as clean as anywhere, but clean pockets exist up and down the IRL, and that is where the best catches are coming from. For those looking for Redfish, shorelines with clean water have been productive, on soft plastics and flies as well. For those looking for a catch and release challenge, there have been good numbers of solid sized Snook in the shallows as well. Good luck out there.
