Good morning, wet weather kept most boats in port yesterday. Anglers are prepping for the anticipated spring run of yellowfin tuna in the northern part of the Bahamas. George Hogan was in the shop yesterday and told us his last trip over to the Bahamas yielded him and crew 19 wahoo over 21/2 days of fishing. George is making a wahoo lure that we carry in our shop and had good results on the orange & black colored skirt.
Inshore, bluefish are a dominant presence in the inlet and along our beaches. Some of the folks living on the south side of the Ft. Pierce inlet are reporting good catches of snook. The snook are mostly above the slot limit and are taking the Yo-Zuri 3-D minnow 100 and live shrimp. Trout fishing in the lagoon remains steady with soft plastics and live shrimp. Jack crevalle can be found cruising the lagoon along with pompano and a few redfish.
New Pelagic Gear has been released and will be in the shop soon. We have in stock a great assortment of your tuna and wahoo supplies.
Have a great day, Donald.
