Good morning, a few local boats fished the El Pescado Billfish Tournament out of St. Augustine over the weekend. Top boat at first place was the boat J-Hook owned by Ed Jillson and piloted by Michael "Dewey" Price for a two day total of 12 sailfish. Second place was the boat Crashman with 8, 3RD place the boat Playtime with 7, and 4TH place the boat Outlaw with 7. Weather kept our area boats in port and with a large volume of freshwater dumping out of the Ft. Pierce inlet fishing offshore has been on the slow side.
Inshore, the fishing along our area beaches has been very productive for snook, tarpon, bluefish, jack crevalle and spanish mackerel. The north and south jetty and the inlet is full of bait and predators there are feasting on the bait when ever they want. The lagoon is full of mullet also and shore fisherman and waders are finding plenty of opportunity around the bridges and docks both north and south of the Ft. Pierce inlet.
It has finally arrived, the week of the 4TH Annual White’s Tackle Inshore Classic Tournament. Captains meeting to be held on, Friday October 21ST starting at 6:30 p.m. on the second floor of Cobb’s Landing. The fishing this year will be Saturday, October 22ND.
Have a great day, Donald.
