Good morning, several area boats are headed to St. Augustine to fish a sailfish tournament this weekend. This is the kick-off event for this years seasonal sailfish tournaments. The next sailfish tournament is the rescheduled tournament at New Smyrna Beach. Prior to all the bad weather there had been some good sail fishing off New Smyrna and everyone is anxious to find out if they are still around. Mix in a few dolphin, kingfish and wahoo and you have an excellent trip offshore.
Inshore, snook and tarpon fishing remains constant with plenty of mullet to go around. Richard Loupe reported some excellent trout fishing on the flats in a little deeper water. Richard’s favorite lure combo is a DOA shrimp suspended under a popping cork. Windcheaters and and jigs have been working well on the snook on the south side of the inlet. The inlet at Sebastian has been producing good catches of redfish and snook on flare jigs.
The 4TH Annual White’s Tackle Inshore Classic Tournament will held this year on October 22ND. The captain’s meeting will be held at Cobb’s Landing on the second floor on Friday October 21ST, starting at 6:30p.m.
Have a good day, Kadri.
