Good morning, The long Memorial Day weekend brought us reports of slow offshore fishing. Capt. Moon Crossman on the charter boat Independence piloted his charter to 1 for 2 sailfish and a few dolphin up to 31#. We are getting some reports of those summer time sailfish mixed in with a scattered dolphin catch. There are still some cobia to be found over the area reefs and sometimes around a buoy. Bait has been plentiful along the beach and there are tarpon in the bait pods.
Inshore, the lagoon is holding a lot of small trout and every now and then a gator trout is caught. The bigger trout are usually caught early in the a.m. on top water lures. We also have received reports of some redfish and snook scattered around the lagoon. This can be a great time of the year to hone in on some fun catch and release action for snook on the flats and in the inlets at Sebastian, Ft.Pierce, St Lucie and Jupiter using live bait.
Have a great day, Donald.
