Good morning! I finally have a good amount of fishing news to report about. Offshore and inshore!
First the offshore, I heard from Scott that there were several boats all cleaning dolphin at the boat ramp yesterday after. Most fish were small but there was a nice gaffer mixed in there. From what he could gather most of the fish were caught trolling ballyhoo and lures both in 200-250 feet of water. There were also a few boats that traveled to the corner. They didn’t report any great catches, but they did have decent fishing. One boat caught a bunch of nice dolphin and a few 20#-30# yellowfins. Another boat caught 6 "little" yellowfins and one dolphin. I never really got a handle on where they were fishing but I do know there was a good temperature break twenty miles to the north.
As for the inshore fishing, Scott had a mess of nice snookS and some nice trout. One trout was a nine pounder Scott said, but a bull shark in the river decided that he wanted to more than Scott’s charter did. He said the shark ate the trout boat side and was very disappointing but pretty frickin wild! All his fishing was done with live bait yesterday. He is on the beach today so we’ll have a report from there tomorrow.
Have a great day!
