Good morning, yesterday proved to be a typical early summer day offshore. Capt. Tris Colket guided his charter to 5 gaffer dolphin, a limit of kingfish, jumped off a sailfish and saw a cobia. Rusty Varn reported a catch of a few nice grouper, a number of kingfish and 3 genuine red snapper on Sunday. Scott Lambeth reported some nice kingfish on the beach in the 30#-40# range. There is plenty of bait around right now along the beach and around the buoys. Other anglers reported good catches of gaffer dolphin yesterday in 80-150 ft. and kingfish in 55-80 ft. With nice sea conditions today a number of boats headed for the corner today. We will inform you with their results on Wednesday.
Inshore, Capt. Scott Crippen guided his charter to a good catch of trout, redfish and snook, one snook about 24# all on live bait yesterday. Dale Sorensen reported a catch of 2 snook one 27" and one 34" on soft plastics around John’s Island in Vero Beach. Snook, trout and redfish can be found cruising the flats early in the morning. Top water lures have been producing some nice trout catches in skinny water again in the early a.m. and late in the day. Black margate, snapper and a few flounder are showing around the bridges taken on live shrimp.
Have a great day, Donald.
