Good morning, due to the windy weather no one has been able to get offshore to file any reports from yesterday. It looks like we might have some fish able weather in store for this coming Mother’s Day weekend and should be able to report back to you on Monday about the results. One report we received from a couple of days ago was not encouraging for bottom fishing. The water was cold on the bottom and the folks that were trying to bottom fish did not have good results. We all know that a cold water upwelling can come and go at a moments notice, so who’s to say what the weekend will bring. Joe Edge reported this morning from Walker’s in the Bahama’s and told us the wind has been keeping them in port as well, but he has seen some nice dolphin brought back to the cleaning table.
Inshore, the trout and snook fishing has remained fairly consistent in the lagoon. Live bait has been productive in both directions from our inlet on snook and trout. Top water lures have been working well early in the morning and late in the afternoon. We have received some decent reports of trout and snook action along the docks on the west side of the lagoon south of the city marina. We are also hearing a few reports of some mangrove snapper catches along the channel edges on live shrimp.
Happy Mother’s Day and have a good weekend, Donald.
