Good morning, reports from offshore yesterday added some more encouragement to our spring dolphin run. One angler reported a catch of seven dolphin to include one at 40+, 50+, and 60+lbs. They were fishing northeast in 200′ trolling ballyhoo. Cobia fishing was really hot in the Canaveral area and reports of spanish mackerel along the beach north of the Ft. Pierce inlet were intense. Even some of the commercial king mackerel fleet was on the beach yesterday. We also received reports of yellowfin tuna up to 60 lbs at station #41010 120km east of Canaveral.
Inshore, reports from numerous anglers indicated that the snook were in skinny water and artificial baits of all kinds were getting the job done. One angler told me that he tried to use live bait and artificial baits were actually providing better results. Miles O’Keeffe reported a catch of 6 trout and 2 pompano yesterday afternoon south in the lagoon all on DOA glow shrimp.
Stop by and check out some new sandals and Simms clothing and bags now in stock. Have a great weekend, Donald.
