Good Morning! I hope everyone reading this went fishing over the weekend, because it sounded good! From sailfish to large mouth bass it was happening.
First of all I would like to congratulate the crew of the Vintage for winning the La Guaria Billfish Shootout. The Melville’s showed exceptional angling skills to help pull off the win! Pretty work! As for a little closer to home the Ohana took top honors in the El Pascado Grande Billfish Tournament in St. Augustine. I didn’t hear the final tally, but i did hear they caught 16 the first day of fishing. With any luck those fish will be moving down the line soon so we can have an opportunity to catch them!
The inshore fishing in the river was pretty good as well over the weekend. I talk to several people that had nice catches of sea trout and redfish on the flats. There were also a bunch of tarpon seen roam the area undisturbed. Snook fishing sounds like its a little slower in the inlet and turning basin according to Kadri, however he may have just not had his mind in the game!
Some fokes were in on Saturday saying the largemouth bass fishing has been good. They were in town fishing some spot out west of town and noted that the bass were eating topwater baits real well. They also said that once it gets alittle cooler they’ll stop biting topwater, so if you want to get in on some topwater bass fishing you’d better hurry.
Have a great week, Geoff
