Good morning, offshore yesterday provided anglers with a bit of a mix bag of fish. A few dolphin were found out in deeper water like 200′-450′. There are some kingfish to be found on the bar and we have heard of a sailfish every now and then. Tarpon can be found cruising the beaches this time of year with live bait the best choice. Bottom fishing has also been pretty steady with grouper, snapper and aj’s on the wrecks and reefs. Live bait has been working best but the bottom dwellers will take a butterfly jig as well.
Inshore, there was a good snook bite last night in the inlet. They were hitting red-tail hawk type jigs and live bait. This can provide you with some great catch and release action, The mangrove snapper will continue to hang around the channel edges this month and into July, live shrimp works well with the snapper. The steady afternoon thunderstorms will provide the lagoon a brackish mix of water that snook and mangroves like. We have have heard that the south jetty has been good for some black margate table fare.
Have a great day, Donald.
