Good morning,
It’s safe to say that dolphin were the hot commodity over the holiday weekend. Most everyone I talked with had plenty of dolphin action, most being past 300′ to 550′. There were a lot of schoolies around but many boats were rewarded with fish in the mid twenties to upper thirties. There were some sailfish caught each day as well as an 80 pound white marlin on the Independence and a blue marlin pulled off on the Ruby Jean. Bottom fishing was good over the weekend with some nice red snappers, groupers, and plenty of amberjacks around.
Inshore was pretty tough (for me anyway). We managed a few decent snook each day on the flats, the largest at 18 pounds. Some reds were caught in Southern Vero and I heard of a few boats catching decent trout numbers. With all of the boat traffic it was a tough weekend inshore!!!
Have a great week, it looks like nice weather is in store!
