Good morning,
The fishing was decent over the weekend. Most people were able to catch plenty of bait and find a few fish. The kingfishing was good in 80′ and there were some sailfish caught in the process. It sounds like there are some sails starting to gather to our North in the St. Augustine and New Smyrna area. The first sailfish tournament of the year kicks off there next weekend and should be a good indicator of how we will shape up here.
Inshore fishing has been good and is slowly getting better. Myself, Tony Vercillo, and Chris Berkeley fished the Mike Shields Memorial Tournament on Saturday and found plenty of snook and plenty of mullet. The bait seems to be steady flowing in the inlet at night, although most of the mullet are size-able silvers rather than the finger mullet we need to really kick things off. There were not many trout caught in the tournament but plenty of nice snook, some reds and some nice tarpon.
Have a great day!
