Good morning, we’re still awaiting the huge swell everyone has been forecasting. I just checked the buoy a second ago and it was reporting 2.0 ft at 17 seconds. That’s still plenty fishable. It’s supposed to get up to 5-7 foot by tomorrow, so it’s got to hit some time soon. Even if your brave enough to charge out to fish offshore I don’t know what you’ll be rewarded with. It has slowly tapered off to a pick of kingfish and the occasional sail. I talked to a commercial kingfisherman on Wednesday that told me they have been battling for a 100# day. Yikes! The only good I can hope that comes from this big swell is maybe it will be large enough to stir up the water and move the cold water off the reef. That will hopefully improve the bait and the bottomfishing.
The inshore scene has been a little better. The snook are still in the inlet feeding on small baitfish and shrimp. they can be caught at night on small plugs and jigs. There are also a few redfish starting to show up as they do every fall. A run of early redfsih could be just what we need.
Good luck this weekend. If your going surfing don’t forget the wax!
