Good morning,
I finally have an offshore report! Taylor Hansen fished on the Reliance Tuesday and had a good day. They had eight dolphin in the twenty pound range, released a sail, and lost a decent wahoo boat-side. Not a bad day for late August and a fresh water ocean. That should give those of you some hope who are fishing the Sheriff’s Explorers Tournament on Saturday. Dean Nelson reported some awesome tarpon action on the beach yesterday. They hooked multiple fish and caught one near 100 pounds. Dean said the tarpon were putting on quite a show in the large schools of cruising mullet.
Inshore, there are a lot of redfish around. I have heard of good catches of redfish along Indian River Drive, North of the bridges, Bear Point, and South Vero. The water looks terrible but don’t let it fool you, the redfish are here and they are chewing! Snook fishing has still been great, hopefully it will hold up until September 1st (snook season re-opens).
Go get em!
