Happy Friday,
Fishing has been pretty good this week for those that made it out in the slop. The Floridian had a nice catch of mangrove snapper yesterday that totaled about 20 fish. Most were pretty stout. A couple of boats fished out of the Pelican yesterday and both had a great day trolling. One boat caught two dolphin that were exactly 40 #’s with a few 20 #ers thrown in. The Reliance had some nice dolphin as well that scaled up to the mid twenties. There was also one wahoo caught that was close to thirty pounds. We are supposed to have a South wind all the way through Sunday night which should make it a little sporty but plenty fish able all weekend. We are going across Sunday morning to tuna fish regardless so I will post a report Monday.
There are a lot of people catching upper slot reds in the river. One customer just left that has been catching a couple every morning to the South and the East of the bridges. Another customer reported steady catches of redfish North of Round Island on the Moorings flats. There are still plenty of snook near the bridges and the inlet as well as some absolute behemoths on the flats. We have seen a few (in less than two feet of water) the last couple of weeks that we thought were sharks until we got closer. Exude darts in black and gold as well as green with red flakes have been working well, as have Berkley Gulp Jerk Shads in Bone Jack color. Fish are starting to respond well to top water with the rising water temps. She Dogs, Super Spooks, and Skitter Walks remain the top choices for top water plugs.
Hope everyone can get some fishing in this weekend, it should be great.
Have a nice day!
