Good morning all,
We are looking at a pretty decent sized sea all week although the ocean and river looked beautiful this morning. For those of you that surf, I would hang up your fishing rods for a day and hit the beach. The waves are perfect! For those of you chomping at the bit to tuna fish here is a little Intel. A couple of boats out of the Cape and Sebastian caught some stout fish on Saturday. Several over 100 pounds and a bunch over 60. Another reported fishing out of St. Lucie Inlet and catching a half dozen over 60 #’s and releasing several 40-50 #ers due to lack of ice. Bottom line, the fishing is pretty good if you can get across. Fishing out front slowed a bit but there are still quite a few dolphin around and a few scattered wahoos.
On the inshore front, snook continue to be the hot topic. From what it sounds like if you are in a few of the hot spots they will practically jump in your boat. I talked to a customer this morning that caught 13 snook Monday morning and 15 last night (on feathers). There is a good showing of redfish in the Ft. Pierce area for this time of year. This is probably the most reds I can remember for early spring. There are still some tarpon in the mouth of the inlet and some gigantic jacks pushing up on the inlet flats. There is plenty of opportunity to bend a rod over, so don’t waste daylight!
Have a great day!
