Good morning,
I talked to a couple of guys who fished Saturday and one that fished a half day Sunday offshore. Elson on the "Outer Limits" caught 3 sails and Jack Wilson and John Hester released a sail for Colton Hester. That was Colton's first sailfish and he was one happy little angler. Way to go Colton! I would guess the fishing should be really good towards the end of the week. It should be 2-3' to 3-4' by late Wednesday and Thursday, this combined with the weekends last cold front should produce another great wave of sailfishing.
On the inshore scene winter time conditions have finally set in. The water is chilled and so are the fish. I would start concentrating on canals, holes, cuts between islands, or anywhere you can find some depth near your favorite spots. These fish will definitely move deep this time of year especially in the early morning hours and late in the afternoon. There will be a few hours in the middle of the day when some of your shallow spots could pay off as fish move shallow to heat up. This will be best on clear sunny days.
Good luck this week, it should be worth fishing. We are coming up on a good swordfish moon if the weather will cooperate.
Have a great day!
