Good morning,
Well I heard a few reports yesterday of some sails in the high 300’s to the low 400’s. I don’t know if that will help anyone since we have some nasty weather on the way. Saturday should be fish-able for those who don’t mind a few bumps (3-5′) and Sunday to about Tuesday looks pretty gross (6-8′). I have heard some mixed bottom fishing reports. Some people reported really cold water on the bottom in different areas and others had pretty good catches of groupers and snappers. Trolling seems to be about the same. There are scattered sails around with an abundance of small dolphin in the line up. There is a good amount of bait on the beach including some super sized greenies and sardines. The beach fishing should hold plenty of action for those looking to bend a rod over. There are a lot of spanish mackerel, bluefish, and kingfish in the bait balls.
Inshore fishing slowed a bit with the last cold snap. There have been some really nice trout caught both North and South. Look for deeper water on the flats and work the edges. There are still some reds around that can be coaxed to bite in the middle of the day when the sun gets up high. Try and fish darker muddy bottom in the middle of the day, it will heat up quicker and trigger the fish to feed. We ares still hearing of some nice snook being caught at night at all of the normal spots for those of you who don’t mind a little catch and release fishing.
Hopefully this front will blow through quickly and the fishing will remain consistent. Hope everyone has a great day!
