Good morning everyone, as some of you already know the Pirates Cove Sailfish Classic tournament in Sturat finished up with a bang. There were 172 fish released for 22 boats fishing over three days. Congratulations to Glenn Cameron and his crew aboard the Floridian who took top honers in this years event. The majority of the fishing yesterday took place off Ft. Pierce in 130′-200′ of water. For those who prefer to put something in the box during their day offshore, all the tournament boat reported catching scores of kingfish and dolphin in all the bait in that same depth.
Bottom fishing has been OK. Lots of amberjacks in 27 fathoms, but not a lot of groupers. The best of the grouper fishing has taken place on or inside the offshore bar. Those anglers also caught a mixed bag of snappers, triggerfish, and kings.
Anglers fishing in the river are catching some nice trout and redfish on the flats. The best fishing has been from north of the inlet to the flats off the Mooring. Flounders have also been plentiful around the inlet. Folks have been catching and gigging the flounders. Anglers catching them are using Gulp shrimp and bucktail jigs.
Everybody have a great day,
Geoff
