Good morning, this is a good time of the year for our coast to light up with cobia. Cobia will take live bait and brightly colored jigs and can be found around buoys, manta rays and bait schools. Captain Tris Colket of Last Mango charters reported a catch of 4 cobia and 3 amberjack yesterday. Captain Tris has had some great catches over the last few days offshore. Offshore has been producing a mix of dolphin, kingfish, sailfish and wahoo scattered along our coastal waters.
Inshore, snook fishing has been improving along the south side of the inlet and around the bridges on the backside of that bright full moon. Live shrimp, pilchards, greenies and flare type jigs will get you good results. Redfish, jacks, trout and ladyfish have been reported from Queen's Cove to the north county line on the east side. Live shrimp, spoons and soft plastics have been providing the best results.
The St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce will present the 16th annual Fishing Frenzy Tournament this week end. The Captain's meeting will be held on May 11th and the tournament will be fished on Saturday May 12th.
