Good morning, reports over the week end indicated that the offshore bite had slowed a little bit. Bottom fishing was good for snapper on the reefs and for tilefish out in the deeper water. There were scattered reports across a wide area for cobia, kingfish, dolphin and sailfish. Spanish mackerel have been along our beaches stretched from Ft. Pierce inlet south past the St. Lucie inlet.
Inshore, the trout fishing in the lagoon has been very good from north to south. Live shrimp and soft plastics have been working well for trout and redfish. The catch and release action for snook along the south side of the inlet has been good after sunset. Every body has been asking us what all the fisherman in the inlet are catching and the answer to that question is jack crevalle and pompano. They are using home made rigs with multiple surge tubing covered hooks and goofy style jigs. Surf fishing has been producing pompano, whiting and bluefish on cut bait, sandfleas, clam strips and spoons.
Have a great day, Donald.
