Good morning, yesterday turned out to be an awesome day offshore along the Treasure Coast on the fishing scene. The ole spindle beaks ( sailfish ) cooperated with most boats that fished for them. Christian Springsteen aboard the Big Daddy caught 12 sailfish. Some of the other boats that parcipitated included the Chasin Tail with 7 sailfish, the Reliance with 4 sailfish and Mike Hogan aboard the Irish Jig with 1 sailfish and some grouper. Most of the sails were taken in 160' on trolled bally-hoo straight off the Ft. Pierce inlet. Bottom fishing for grouper yesterday was hot in 160'. Genuine red snapper have been taking vertical jigs and bait on the 80' reefs. Throw in a few kingfish, dolphin, wahoo, and amberjack and you can have a fun day offshore weather permitting
Inshore, pompano and bluefish have arrived in our area, both in the surf and in the lagoon. The pompano can be caught on sand fleas and clam strips in the surf and caught in the lagoon on Buccaneer Wigglers, blanched sand fleas and pompano jigs. Small jack crevalle have been hanging around the turning basin and just below the south bridge around the sanitation treatment plant.
Have a great week end and HAPPY NEW YEAR, Donald.
