Good morning, wind and rain drove the weekend weather situation. Strong easterly winds with gusts above 50 kept the areas boats in port. Now that the low that was driving the weather has moved on, calmer sea conditions are being forecast for the week ahead. Trollers and live bait fisherman should find the reefs holding some sailfish, kingfish, bonito, dolphin, cobia and amberjack as our fall fishing pattern returns to normal.
Inshore, fishing over the weekend was difficult at best. Finding a spot out of the wind was enough of a challenge, but those who did were rewarded with snook, jack crevalle and some bluefish. Look for the spillways to produce some good snook action under and around the falls. DOA Terror Eyz and baitbusters work well there. We received reports of some tarpon working on the mullet schools last night in the inlet. The full moon on Tuesday night should make for some good fishing after sunset in the inlet, south jetty and around the areas bridges.
The 4TH Annual White’s Tackle Inshore Classic Tournament is set for October 22ND. The Captain’s meeting will be held upstairs at Cobb’s Landing on Friday October 21ST starting at 6:30pm.
Have a great day, Donald.
