Good morning, offshore fishing still remains a little on the slow side for now. A few area boats are gearing up for the sailfish season which is right around the corner. The tournament season kicks off with a sailfish tournament out of New Smyrna Beach the first week end in October. Offshore for now remains scattered across the reefs for kingfish, wahoo, dolphin and sailfish. Black sea bass still dominate the bottom fishing scene with a few mangrove snapper on the shallow reefs.
Inshore, last night the inlet was full of mullet and the tarpon were having a field day. The big problem is there are so many mullet, getting a jack crevalle, snook, or tarpon to take the mullet you are fishing with is 1 in ? Midday yesterday there was some good action to be found around the Pelican Yacht Club’s docks for snook and jack crevalle. You basically have to be in a spot where a feeding frenzy takes place with all the mullet around.
Have a good day, Kadri.
