Good morning, the beauty of the Atlantic is that it is ever changing from day to day. If you have an opportunity to get out today, tomorrow or some day in the future, you never really know what you are going to find. It is always an adventure when you pass through our inlet and burst into the open Atlantic Ocean, yesterday was one of those days. Lam Nguyen reported catching 2 cobia yesterday on chartreuse jigs, a 25# fish and 45# fish. They were fishing north at the cove in Vero Beach. Dave Moberg reported catching 2 Cobia 35# and 50# on jigs as well, fishing near the #10 buoy. The water temperature was around 74 degrees and bait was scattered. One customer found a school of redfish east of the #10 buoy and caught 15 over slot limit fish. Their biggest was around 40# and were caught on chartreuse/blue and chartreuse/red jigs. Anglers also found tarpon on the beach mixed in with the scattered bait. Grant Cloughley on a swordfish outing with Trey Smith and Geoff Quatraro last night under a full moon boated a 205 # mako shark. They were fishing in 1200 ft. of water 28 miles south east of the Ft. Pierce inlet using squid and LP disco light on their 200 ft. line.
Inshore, trout fishing remains steady with plenty of small trout around. A few redfish were reported north in the lagoon and mangrove snapper have been reported along the channel edges. We had a customer stop by yesterday and reported catching a number of guitarfish on live shrimp near Little Jim bridge.
Have a great week end, Donald.
