Good morning, reports from offshore the last couple days have indicated that most of the fish have been found in 70′-85′. RJ Petrie reported this morning a catch of an 18# dolphin in 70′ of water. Kadri Benton reported this morning, he fished with Dave and Devin Moberg yesterday in 85′ of water. They trolled out to 200′ only to find green water and then came back in to 85′ and using live bait caught 4 amberjack, 1 scamp grouper, 2 dolphin and 6 kingfish. I have talked with quite of few offshore anglers and all them have commented about catching most of their fish in 70′-85′. A couple have reported hooking up with small blue marlin in and around the bonito and dolphin schools.
Inshore, summer time conditions persist, so an early morning fishing trip will provide you with some good results. Trout and snook are on the flats and a few redfish have also been reported. Top water and soft plastics have been working well in the early A.M. We are still getting reports of a lot of small trout in the lagoon right now and we are hearing some reports of tarpon along the beach and the inlet.
The FWC will hold a meeting today June 8 and June 9 which includes public comment at the Renaissance Resort at Golf World 500 Legacy Trail, St. Augustine FL 32092. Part of this meeting will have discussion about opening the snook season for September, 2011. Several passionate snook anglers from our area are in attendance and plan on speaking.
Have a great day, Donald.
