Good morning, its that time of year when the spindle beaks can be found along our coast. The next couple of weeks is the best time to target sailfish in our waters as they make their way towards the south. Captain Taylor Hansen aboard the vessel Reliance has had a couple of great days in a row. Thursday’s total was 23 releases for 35 and Friday’s total was 9 for 20 releases. The amazing part of those 2 days he reported 0 bonita bites at all. Taylor stated he was fishing north of our inlet in 180′. Captain Brian Ciskowski aboard the vessel Huzzy reported 4 dolphin 4 amberjacks and 0 for 2 sailfish inside of 180′.
Inshore, trout fishing this time of year can be very good as the water in the lagoon cools down the trout will move into deeper water. When they do, they have a tendency to congregate together. Captain Scott Crippen reported some great trout and redfish fishing on the fly yesterday. He stated that the fish didn’t bite well until after 1:00 in the afternoon when the water warmed up a bit. We are getting some good reports of flounder fishing in our inlet here in Ft. Pierce.
Have a great week end, Donald.
