Good morning, The first day of the Pirate’s Cove Sailfish Tournament kicked off this morning. We are writing this report a little late today to see what would develop after lines in. The sailfish are cooperating nicely, there have been plenty caught this morning. We won’t have quantity until the noon report. The boats fishing the tourney are stretched up and down the coast. I talked with one customer this morning and he told me on a recent last trip offshore, they caught and released a summer size sailfish and a handful of dolphin and a wahoo.
Inshore, there has been plenty of good snook action around. The rock pile has been consistent and the jetty has been producing some good catches of snook as well. The south jetty has also been good day time action for spanish mackerel, bluefish and jacks. Gotchas have been a good choice there for the bluefish and jacks. Live bait seems to be a good choice for some snook fishing in the turning basin with anglers trying to get their licks in before the snook season closes.
Have a great week end, Donald.
