Good Morning,
It seems as though the fishing picked up over the weekend! There were reports of dolphin and sailfish offshore and snook and tarpon near the beach. Trey Smith and crew captured several dolphin offshore fishing a little past the offshore bar. They were slow trolling live baits. There were a few sailfish scattered around also. They were caught in as close as 60 foot and on out to the deep. They were hooked on trolled ballyhoo and live bait. The snook and tarpon were all caught on the beach. I had reports of tarpon from 40-120 pounds roaming sections of beach up and down the coast. Anglers were looking for bait schools and the "poons" would be near by. They were caught on everything from flies to bomber plugs and DOA baitbusters. The snook were caught alittle further off the beach. Scott had a great day yesterday on them. He was fishing a little spot to the north were they like to gang up in the summer months. He was lowing live baits down and getting a strike on almost every bait. We like to call the spot secret, but Scott thinks his cover was blown yesterday. We’ll see if anybody else catches something there….
