Good morning,
Offshore, the bottom fishing has picked up. I have heard several reports of mutton snappers being caught on the reef. There were some nice catches of grey groupers the last two days in the 90′ areas, the largest I heard of was 36 pounds. A friend of mine saw a boat at the ramp that had 5 greys yesterday all over 25 pounds. Geoff went swordfishing last night with a customer from Vero and caught 2 out of 3. One was caught on a mackerel at 300′ and one on a squid at 100′. Neither of the fish were very large, but swords none the less.
Inshore, has really improved the last couple of days. I drove over the South Bridge at lunch time yesterday and the water to the South was crystal clear again (as was the inlet water and the beach). We fished after work yesterday evening to the North and it was still pretty stained but the fishing was pretty good. We caught around 20 snook on top-water and Johnson Sprite Spoons. No real monsters but some nice flats sized snook. There were some pretty solid pods of mullet coming through and the action was close by. It looks like we should have good fishing for our tournament next weekend so come by and sign up.
Have a good day!
