Good Morning,
Fishing was pretty good over the weekend for local anglers as well as some not so local anglers. Reports of better swordfishing got everyones interests up. Mark Malizia caught 4 fish in a short hour bite on saturday night. One of the four fish was 58" estimated at 100#’s. The others were close to legal, but were successfully released to fight another day.
The kingfishing on the beach also picked up over the weekend. Reports of bait and kingfish spread from north of Vero Beach south to the power plant. Several smaller fish in the teens were caught with only a hand full over 30#.
The bottomfishing was also good if you could stay out of the current. Devin fished will Robby Kelly yesterday. He said there was almost 4 knots of current in 180′. They moved in to 80′ and caught some snappers, groupers, and triggerfish. None of them were huge, but they had a nice mixed bag.
As far as the not so local crowd Scott and his wife Leslie and Shawn and Mary Lynn Ninesling are in San Sal with fishing legend Captain Moon Crossman. Mary Lynn caught her first blue marlin yesterday estimated at 250#’s. Great job Mary Lynn!!! Oh Shawn caught one also a few days ago, it was near 100#’s. Pictures of both fish can be viewed in the Offshore gallery. There are some great shot of Mary Lynn’s fish.
I also want to thank everyone that came to the Shimano Maverick Show and made it a success. We all had a great time and enjoyed meeting some new people from out of town.
Good Fishing,
Geoff
