Good morning,
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. The offshore fishing seemed to be great for some this weekend and quite the opposite for others. Trolling was very slow for everyone I talked to. There were a few dolphin caught and maybe two to three sails (that I heard of). One boat did catch a 60# wahoo which was a nice day maker considering the conditions. I still have not heard of any cobia showing up, besides a few resident reef fish. I saw a few rays in 50′ yesterday but they had no flat headed friends with them. Devin Silas and crew had a great day bottom fishing yesterday. They had an awesome genuine red snapper that weighed 27 #’s and 5 others in the mix. They also caught some nice grey and scamp grouper for a total of 6 with some in the mid to high twenties. Beau Bryan reported a couple of genuines as well with two nice groupers in the low 30# range. We fished the beach yesterday with fly rods and top-water plugs to the North and had a fun day with the bluefish, mackerels, and bonitas.
Inshore fishing was good again for this time of year. I heard of some redfish frequenting the Indian River Drive flats and plenty of trout across the river from there. To the North there have been some snook making their way onto the flats and around some of the spoil islands. I have still heard of some scattered schools of pompano being caught although the best catches still remain in the surf.
Have a great day!
