Good morning,
The Pelican Yacht Club Billfish Tournament started this morning. You would know this for sure if you were anywhere near the inlet around 7:30 this morning. There were some beautiful boats steaming East. I haven’t heard anything on the radio yet but there were a few fish caught yesterday by some boats that did a little pre-fishing. There were a few nice dolphin caught the last few days as well. It seems the average size has increased a bit. Good luck to all in the tournament, we will post up the results later.
Inshore fishing has been pretty good. There have been some sizable trout caught from Bear Point to Little Mud. Most guys are using Berkley Gulp Shrimp on a 1/4 oz. jig head or a Jerk Bait worked slowly. There have been some better catches of Pompano reported this week. Some were caught in the same area mentioned above and a few towards Vero (North of Harbor Branch). A friend of mine told me he found a large concentration of Redfish on the East side of the river North of the bridge (that’s all I could get out of him), but only caught one. Sounds like this cooler water has tightened their lips a little bit.
Good luck, looks like a lot of guys were trying the inshore scene this morning as well as the tournament guys. Have a great day!
