Good morning and Happy New Year,
The last few days have produced some decent fishing. Offshore has been interesting to say the least. We fished on Saturday and went through plenty of baits. There are still tremendous amounts of small dolphin lurking about with and abundance of cudas, kingfish, and sharks to cause havoc. There were a few sails caught each day. The Vintage put up 4 one day and a pair each following day. Geoff ran the Nelsheen two days this weekend and caught a pair each day. There were a couple of decent wahoos caught, Reed Macy caught one around 35 #’s on Friday. I spoke with Jimmy Gornto this morning and they caught two swordfish on Saturday night and lost two others. It sounds like they sat down in a good bite out front.
Inshore: There are still an abundance of flounder in the inlet. I talked to a customer this morning that has still been catching close to twenty a day. There are some nice schools of redfish on the North Bridge flats, although after last nights cold I would look for there patterns to change quite a bit. Between last night and tonight’s close to freezing conditions the flats will change. Look for fish to move deep this week. Fish potholes and channel edges.
Hope everyone had a great weekend, best wishes for a Happy New Year!
