Cool water from an upwelling is still affecting the beaches and offshore. Sailfish activity has been good in the 100′ to 120′ range, but other species are scarce. The surf has periodically had plenty of bait, particularly greenies, but not a lot of predators in it. Some occasional Jack Crevalle and Spanish Mackerel around, and some Snook as well. Nearshore anglers have encountered good numbers of Tarpon and some bigger Jack Crevalle. The inlets have had very good night time catch and release Snook fishing, as well as Tarpon, mostly on jigs and paddle tail swim baits. Inshore the baby Tarpon continue to provide thrills along the mangroves and basins, and there’s lots of smaller Snook around docks and mangroves as well. The best news has been the grass continues to thrive, so keep your fingers crossed.
