Happy New Year! Pompano have finally shown up along the beaches, with good catches the last few days. Round Island has been particularly productive. Sand fleas are still a bit tough to come by, but easier than the past year. Clams, FishGum and Fish Bites have also been productive, as have goofy jigs. Good numbers of Jack Crevalle have been present, as well as scattered Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel, with spoons working well for all three. Offshore, there’s been a good Wahoo bite to the south in 200′ of water, but a bit quiet on everything else. Inshore, the IRL has cleaned up quite well, with sight fishing possible most everywhere. Seatrout continue to be the best bet, with some larger specimens haunting the flats. Snook are starting to thaw out as well, and larger ones are present on the flats and docks. Soft plastics are working best for both, as well as the Redfish. The inlets have been a bit quiet, with some Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel the best bets. Good luck out there.
