Fishing in the Indian River has remained very good, with solid Seatrout catches up and down the area, particularly in areas where the sea grass has started to come back. Soft plastics, live shrimp, and flies have all accounted for plenty of fish ( remember that bag limits have changed to two fish in our area ). There have also been quite a few larger Snook around, but the colder weather has made them very difficult to catch, though some have fallen for live bait. Redfish have been showing up more and more along the shorelines, particularly north. In the surf, a few Pompano have been caught in the Cove area, but not big numbers, and Bluefish have been more prevalent as well. Fort Pierce Inlet has yielded decent Snook catches, but only consistently with live bait. Tarpon have been very active at night on outgoing tide, taking jigs, plugs, and bait. Offshore, Swordfish have perked up, with some good catches in 1500′ of water, and some Dolphin are being caught as well. Sailfish have been active south in Palm Beach, but scattered here. Good luck, and get out there!
*** Don’t forget our 2 day fly fishing school with IGFA Hall of Fame angler and instructor Chico Fernandez .
