Good morning, yesterday turned out to be an epic day, both for fishing offshore and great weather, sea conditions. The Pelican Billfish Championship recorded 269 sailfish releases yesterday, topping off Wednesday and Thursday fishing action. The tournament ends with todays results. The crew on the boat Jackpot reported catching 5 nice gaffer dolphin in a depth of 150'. Wahoo, bonito, kingfish and amberjack ase also scattered along the coast. There have been a few cobia caught over the last fishable days as well.
Inshore, the trout fishing remains good all over the back country. Spanish mackerel have moved in to the lagoon and are around the turning basin area. Anglers are using Gotcha lures and spoons for bluefish and the spanish. Reports of jack crevalle and flounder are steady as they forage around the lagoon.
Have a great weekend, Donald.
