Good morning, Capt. V.J. Bell fishing aboard the boat Sea Check reported catching some gaffer size dolphin off the Stuart inlet yesterday. High winds and very rough sea conditions have prevented boaters to get out in the Atlantic and search for blackfin tuna, sailfish, dolphin and wahoo over the past few weeks. This weekend might provide them an opportunity to troll some bally-hoo or try their luck at some bottom fishing.
Inshore, dirty, silt laden water has made conditions challenging for anglers fishing the lagoon. Snook fishing has been decent off the south jetty and around the Pelican Yacht Club’s docks. Reports of some bluefish, jack crevalle have also popped up in the inlet and back in to the Faber Cove area. Try fishing some of the canals off the lagoon for trout, as they particularly are uncomfortable with silty water.
