Good morning, reports coming in from offshore over the weekend paint a dismal picture. Water temperatures were all over the place ranging from 69-76 degrees. The water temperature on the beach was a cold 69 degrees pushing the bait somewhere else. We did hear of some bait at the cove in Vero Beach, but most folks bought their bait from Dave Maxwell 772-519-2104. Rusty Varn reported a catch of some amberjack but not much else. Mike Bunnell reported a catch of 2 cobia on live bait over the Ft. Pierce Sportfishing Club’s barge wreck.
Inshore, Taylor creek has been producing good numbers of snook and the inlet has been holding plenty of snook waiting for some storm water runoff. The water is crystal clear in the inlet making almost impossible to get them to cooperate. Once we receive enough rain that the spillways spill we should see the catch and release number improve. Fishing for mangrove snapper has been good inshore, in the inlet and along the channel edges.
Have a great day, Donald.
