Good morning, yesterday proved to be a good day offshore for those who were able to slip out and get a little fishing in. Rusty Varn reported a catch of 4 kingfish up to 34# in 90 feet of water on live greenies, south of Bethel shoals. Rusty also caught a 31# grey grouper in 180 feet of water also on live greenies and a couple of amberjack. Rusty told us that the current had subsided and he was able to hold bottom with 8 ounces. Capt. Tris Colket on the charter boat Last Mango reported a catch of a couple of grouper, a couple of cobia and a limit of amberjack on live greenies over one of the areas wrecks. Capt Moon Crossman fishing aboard the charter boat Floridian reported a catch of several dolphin and a release of a sailfish.
Inshore, there has been plenty of bait along our areas beaches. We have heard of some kingfish caught on the beach and there have been some tarpon moving along our beach and in to the inlet. Some reports from the cove at Vero yesterday indicated a large concentration of greenies. When ever there is that much bait in one place you can expect to find jack crevalle, kingfish, tarpon and even sharks taking advantage of an easy meal. Snook have also been reported at the south jetty and in our inlet.
