Good Morning, Today is the last day of fishing in the Pelican Yacht Club tournament. The fishing really changed yesterday. It was a big improvement over the fishing Thursday. Yesterday’s top boat went to the Caroline captained by Ronnie Fields. They had thirteen releases. That was enough to put them in the led with 20 releases. Next is the Rough N’It with 16 and the LoQueSea with 16. Its anyones game still a quick triple header could put an one of 10 boats back at the top!
The best of the fishing took place at the 400 line in 135-180 foot of water. The water temp was about 70.5-73 degrees. Look for bait scattered on the bottom and any type of edge or weed line on the surface that might indicate a difference in currents.
P.S. We just got in some very pretty ballyhoos. This is the time of year that the best quality baits are caught. It is also the best time to buy bait to store it for the summer when bait quality goes way down. If your planning any Bahama tuna trips or just fishing out front be sure to stock your freezer now with the bait you thing you’ll use.
Good Luck, and have a nice weekend,
Geoff
