Good Morning, The offshore fishing has been great the last several days. Istiophorous platypterus (sailfish) are the targeted species, however wahoo, mahi-mahi, king mackerel, bonita, and blackfin tuna are biting as well.
Most of the action has been happening to the north, up around the northeast ground to bethal. The average depth is 140-180 foot, but they’re looking for clean water and good water temp. This time of year they’re looking for at least 78 degrees.
The Dakeri fished yesterday and captured a really nice blackfin tuna that weighed 31 pounds. The Vintage also fished and aside from a few sailfish they had a wahoo out of three and some dorados.
The fishing has been really good for the last week or 10 days, so if your thinking of going you should fight the crowd at the boat ramp not the mall and go fishing!
Happy Holidays,
Geoff
