Good morning,
Offshore fishing was pretty good yesterday. Scott fished aboard the Twenty with Captain Moon for swordfish last night. They had Matt Gaston and Scott Lambeth as angler and it sounds as though they get their arms stretched. They set out in 1250′ and fished their way to the north with the current. They caught two out of three swordfish, an unidentified "brown" shark, and a rough rider. The swords were caught in 1200′ on squids. Pretty work to rod hog Scott Lambeth on catching the first two swordfish you have ever seen.
Meanwhile closer to home on the offshore bar, the kingfish have been biting. The tide had turned to the south, and the bite slowed down, but the fish have still been biting. There have been several fish caught over thirty pound and a few over fifty!
Redfish are still the focus in the river, however I have heard of several big trout caught this week. The redfish have been seen only on the lowest tide rooting around in the grass. Berkley Gulps and Exudes rigged weedless have been best.
Good Luck,
Geoff
