Good morning, Despite this rough, windy, winter time weather there have been plenty of people braving the conditions for what I would consider very good fishing. I fished on the Nelsheen Sunday. Our targeted specie was the elusive sailfish. After setting out in the morning we caught several dolphin up to fifteen pounds. There have been a good amount of dolphin migrating down the coast. After putting afew dolphins in the box we had our first sailfish encounter. He came to the squid chain and then the dredge. His sail was slicked back, his peck fins and tail were electric blue and he was inches from the side of the boat before he finally ate a bait. It is one of the things that just never gets old. Through out that day we caught seven dolphin to fifteen pounds, three blackfin tuna to eighteen pounds, numerous bonita, got bit off by a wahoo, and that sailfish. The weather was a factor Sunday. The ocean was primarily occupied by sportfish boats fishing the Pirates Cove sailfish tournament, but there we're a few smaller boats out braving the conditions. This weekend forecast looks good with light north winds and seas less than four feet.
Good Luck,
Geoff
